Susan “Susie” McLaurin Rogers, age 86 of Clio, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at her residence.

Susie was born on September 5, 1937, in Clio. She was the only child of the late Tolbert Dudley “TD” McLaurin, Jr. and Gladys Helms McLaurin. Susie attended school in Clio. From 1952 until graduation, she worked at McIntyre and Rogers Grocery. After graduating high school in 1955, Susie worked at the Colonial Store/Big Star Foods in Bennettsville and Myrtle Beach for 32 years. From 1987-1988 Susie worked at Bi-Lo in Bennettsville. In 1988, Susie went to work for Wachovia Bank until her retirement. After her retirement, she worked with Sidney at S & J Appliance. Susie also planned several trips for the seniors at Christ United Methodist Church in Bennettsville. Throughout her years, she enjoyed many trips to the mountains of SC, NC, GA, and VA. She especially loved traveling with her granddaughter, Kathryn. Susie also passed on her love of cooking to Kathryn. Susie had a deep love for her family. She cherished every moment with each of them, especially her great grandchildren.

Susie is survived by her son, Sidney McLaurin Rogers (Janis) of Clio; granddaughter, Kathryn Suzanne Rogers Carter (Ronnie) of Latta; grandchildren, Sydney, Trace, and Tommy Carter, all of Latta; several extended family members also survive.

A graveside memorial will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Hebron Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Susie’s honor to Crescent Hospice 1039 Cheraw Street Bennettsville, SC 29512.

The family would like to send special thanks to Tabitha Cottingham, Jamie Prevatte, Stacy Plato, and Crystal Taylor, for the compassionate care given to Susie.

Susie requested that everyone attending the service, to dress causal. If you have any Clemson Tiger attire, please feel free to wear it.
