Mrs. Thelma Pope Blue passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, at her residence after an illness. She was 88 years old.

Thelma was born in Bennettsville on April 15, 1937, to the late Howard and Joanna Pearce Pope. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, attending Camp Meeting Crusades, Gospel Singings, Church Revivals, playing the piano, listening to music, working in her flower gardens, traveling, and most importantly spending time with all her family.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; son, Thomas H. Blue, Sr.; daughters, Delorice B. Barrington (Jerry), Livie B. Turner, Carolyn Blue, Bobbie Jean B. Grooms (Donald), and Roberta B. Boney (Jimmy); 35 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, sisters, Lois Hinson, Josie Gardner, and Ellen Pope, infant son, Robert Blue, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 4pm, Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Salem Baptist Church, with burial at Beauty Spot Cemetery, officiated by Revs. Mike Williams and Bo Grooms. A visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
