Valerie Jenel (Simmons) Todd Swain

Valerie Jenel Simmons Todd Swain passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the age of 61.

Valerie was born on October 1, 1964, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, to the late Nelson Joseph Simmons and Joyce Lou Jean Mears Simmons. She was a member of McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School class.

Valerie leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; her son, Brandon Todd; daughters, Stacy Todd Richardson and husband Danielle and Chelsea Todd Steen and husband Allen; sisters, Desiree Huff and husband Waymon, Robin Gardner, and Jo Barfield and husband Chuck; and her beloved grandchildren, Leana’ Richardson, Elijah Richardson, Allie Steen, and Sadie Steen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Todd, and her second husband, David Swain.

The family will hold services at a later date.
