William Lee Hough Jr., born April 8, 1947, at the Norfolk U.S. Military Hospital, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee Hough Sr. and Elaine Margarette Lewis, and his brother, Denver Lewis Hough.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Kathy Jane Hough; his brother, CJ Steinmetz III (Georgia) of Georgia; and his children, Ronald Allen Stewart Cassidy (Tami), Timothy Martin Cassidy Jr., Ashley Ann Sligh (Shane), and bonus son Alejandro James Todd. He was the proud grandfather of Lydia Janelle Townsend, Samuel Ryan Hough, Emberlyn Brielle Charette, Gabriel William Cassidy, Felix Rhett Cassidy, and Katarina Grace Cassidy, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as his faithful cat, Buddy, all of whom brought endless joy to his life. He is also lovingly remembered by a special friend, Alexis Cassidy with whom he shared cherished memories.
A Vietnam War veteran, William was awarded two Purple Hearts for his bravery and service to his country. Throughout his life, he was known for his kind heart, always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Professionally, William worked as an electrician with JP Stevens and Charles Craft, eventually retiring from Mohawk. Beyond his work, his family, grandchildren, and Buddy were the center of his world, and his love, generosity, and humor touched everyone who knew him.
No service will be held at this time.
William Lee Hough Jr.’s life was defined by service—to his family, his community, and his country—and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
