William Smith Obituary

Mr. William Allen Smith, age 58, passed away, July 7, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota after an extended illness.

Allen was born on May 29, 1966, in Charleston S.C. to Mr. William Leroy “Red” Smith and Patricia Lowder Smith. He was raised in McColl, South Carolina. Growing up, Allen was active in playing football and baseball for his school team, the McColl Red Devils. After graduating high school, he attended Wingate University for a brief time before serving on the police departments of McColl and Society Hill. Allen gained a love for photography and ran a very successful photography business. Soon after, he met his loving wife Rachel Alta Warden Smith, and moved to Marietta Georgia. He had a passion for driving trucks. He also ventured into real estate and owned a restaurant. He was always eager to accept a new challenge. Shortly after opening his restaurant, he returned to driving trucks for Prime, Inc. While at Prime he was a driver and trainer. He loved the open road and seeing the United States. Allen was a die-hard Clemson Tigers fan and loved the Atlanta Braves. His other hobbies included: smoking BBQ, comedy, art, music, dogs, watching Andy Griffith reruns and being a Georgia Patriot Riders member. Most recently he had grown fond of listening to Casting Crowns music and opening up to family for prayer.

Allen will be remembered for his servant’s heart. He loved to cook for people and see the joy his food brought them. He was also an avid jokester; he could make anyone laugh. He was quick to defend his Clemson Tigers; they were always the best in his eyes, and he would not back down from that. He was also a devoted father and uncle. He was always willing to help them how he could. Lastly, he was a true friend. He would have your back in your toughest times and always try to lift you up in times of need.

Allen leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Rachel Smith; daughter Brielle Diliegro; parents William and Patricia Smith; sister Sharon Smith; niece Kristin Burgess (Aaron); nephews Adam Goff and Logan Doar; and great nieces Brynn and Bristol Burgess. Allen also has several cousins and extended family.

Allen was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents Leroy and Magdelene Smith and maternal grandparents Henry and Edith Lowder.

The Smith family would like to thank each and every person who has reached out and helped in any way possible during this difficult time. Whether it was through a prayer or a donation during Allen’s extended illness, nothing has gone unnoticed. From the bottom of our heart, thank you.
