Wyndel Chris Sheppard, 76, husband of Jackie Smith Sheppard, died Monday, Aril 6, 2026, at his home.
Born February 26, 1950, in Bennettsville, he was a son of the late Dannie Sheppard and the late Cora Lee Cook Sheppard. He Co-founded The Singing Sheppard’s at the age of 19 with his wife Carolyn. They traveled up and down the east coast singing and spreading the gospel for 47 years. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. Chris and Jackie married in 2020.
Survivors in addition to his wife of Bennettsville include three children, Wynn Sheppard (Leanne), Katina Sheppard, and Shannon Sheppard (Fay); five grandchildren, Sydney Sheppard, Caitlin Sheppard, Dakota Sheppard, Hunter Sheppard, and Chloe Sheppard; a great granddaughter, Parker Grace; three stepchildren, Carol Ann McElveen (Lee), Larry Griggs (Dawn), and Amy G Richardson; four step grandchildren, Michael Odom, Will Griggs, Josh Griggs, and Nathan Richardson; a sister, Valory Sansom; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Mizzell Sheppard, and his brother, Larry D. Sheppard.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Hearrell officiating. Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1207 Academy Road, Bennettsville.
